Manny Pacquiao Still Wants Revenge Against Floyd Mayweather, Freddie Roach Reveals

Manny Pacquiao still wants to rematch Floyd Mayweather, his trainer, Freddie Roach revealed.

Pacquiao and Mayweather first met back in 2015 and Mayweather earned a decision victory. It was a highly-anticipated fight at the time, but many were disappointed they fought so late in their careers. However, for Pacquiao who is now 42 and Mayweather is 44, he hopes they can have a rematch.

Yet, if the fight does happen, Roach says Pacquiao wants it to be a real fight, not an exhibition which Mayweather has been doing.

“We would like to fight Mayweather one more time,” Pacquiao’s Hall of Fame trainer Roach told Sky Sports. “But exhibitions? No. Manny is not into that. Manny has boxing fans. That’s what we’re after.”

Although Pacquiao wants the rematch with Floyd Mayweather, it’s unlikely it will happen. After Mayweather fought Logan Paul he admitted that was likely it for him, and he said he was only interested in exhibitions anyway.

Manny Pacquiao, meanwhile, is set to return to the ring on Saturday as he battles Yordenis Ugas for the WBA (super) welterweight title. He was supposed to fight Errol Spence Jr. but Spence was forced out of the fight with an eye injury.

If Pacquiao wins, he would have a ton of options for his next fight, but he’s still uncertain when he will retire and admits he may only have one left.

“All I can say is there could be more,” Pacquiao said. “I’m turning 43 this coming December. My plan is one at a time. Let’s focus on this (Ugas) first and talk about the next fight if there’s another fight. It depends on the fight. I love doing this. I’m happy doing this. My feeling right now is I feel like when I was young at an early age of 20. I’m so excited and happy. It still feels the same. I’m still so passionate for the sport.”
