Moses Itauma isn’t likely to reach Anthony Joshua’s level of stardom, says Eddie Hearn

Who Will Moses Itauma Face Next?

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn isn’t convinced that Moses Itauma can reach the same level of stardom as Anthony Joshua.

As we know, Moses Itauma is one of the most intriguing prospects in all of boxing. The 20-year-old is coming off the back of a massive KO win over Dillian Whyte and now, even at this early stage in his career, people are talking about him fighting for a world championship.

Regardless of whether or not that happens, there’s no denying that Moses Itauma has a bright future. He is calm, composed and seems to be getting better every time he goes out there. Given that his prime is likely a good few years away, it’s scary to think where he could be even in twelve months.

Recently, Eddie Hearn was asked about the potential of Moses Itauma – and he provided an interesting answer.

Eddie Hearn’s view on Moses Itauma’s future

“I don’t see anyone ever competing on the level of AJ. Not in terms of ability, but just draw. We’ve never seen it before. But don’t forget, AJ won the Olympic gold in London [in 2012]. It’s a hell of a start,” said Matchroom Chairman Eddie Hearn to talkSport Boxing when asked if Moses Itauma can become a big star like Anthony Joshua has been.

“Moses may not have the same energy to light up a room just yet, but he’s 20 years old,” said Hearn.

Hearn is naturally going to come out with something like this but in truth, nobody knows for sure where this guy is going to end up in the years ahead. He’s an incredible talent and although there are plenty of other excellent heavyweights out there, we’re not sure anyone is generating this kind of excitement outside of Oleksandr Usyk.
