Regis Prograis Happy With ‘No-Brainer’ Fight On Thriller PPV April 17

Former light-welterweight world champion Regis Prograis has claimed a great opportunity, as he’ll be fighting on the undercard of Jake Paul versus Ben Askren this weekend.

The event will be hosted this Saturday, April 17, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, live on Thriller pay-per-view for $49.99.

After losing his WBA light-welterweight championship to Josh Taylor back in 2019, he came back to TKO the undefeated Juan Heraldez in round three of his next bout one year later.

That was only in October, and now he faces Ivan Redkach this Saturday.

Prograis had the following to say to The Sun in regards to his bout this weekend:

“This isn’t an opportunity you (I) can turn down. It’s a different platform, a different fanbase, and a good fight for me. I think all around it’s great, so I couldn’t turn it down. It was a no-brainer from the start, but I still had to talk to Al Haymon (Prograis’ manager).

“For me, my coach, my manager, it was definitely a no-brainer.

“It’s too much exposure for me to help build my brand. Boxing is becoming a popularity contest. It is what it is. They’re way more popular than I am, and it is what it is. For me, I’m not mad about it. I’m getting exposure and they’re bringing new boxing fans to the table now.

“I went to the fight between Jake’s brother Logan Paul and KSI in LA at the Staples Center and it was just a different fanbase man.

“There was a bunch of kids, from 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 & 15 running around the building. That fanbase will see me fight and they’ll become my fans. I don’t have no complaints about it.”

Prograis comes into the bout with a record of 25-1, with 21 of those victories coming via knockout, while Redkach comes in with a record of 23-5-1-1, 18 of those victories coming via knockout.

This is a great opportunity for Prograis to get his way back to a title fight.
