Teofimo Lopez Does Body Shot Challenge With Hafthor ‘The Mountain’ Bjornsson
Teofimo Lopez took on the body shot challenge from Hafthor ‘The Mountain’ Bjornsson.
The Mountain, of course, is an Icelandic strongman and he played the character The Mountain in Game of Thrones. He is known for his strength as he is the first person to have won the Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe’s Strongest Man and World’s Strongest Man in the same calendar year.
He has also been learning boxing, so he decided to do the body shot challenge against Lopez who is the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight champion. There is a massive size difference but Lopez was able to take the shot from Bjornsson who briefly knocked Lopez off balance.
Teofimo Lopez has not fought since October 2020 where he stunned many and defeated Vasyl Lomachenko. He was supposed to defend his belts against George Kambosos Jr., but the fight has been delayed countless times by Triller but it has now been picked up by Matchroom and will take place on November 27.
Should Lopez get his hand raised, he has been vocal about wanting a big fight and had his eyes set on Devin Haney. The two got into each other’s faces at a recent boxing event and Eddie Hearn showed interest in booking the fight next time out.
“And when he turned up tonight, someone shouted something and he went over and they go head-to-head,” Hearn said. “He said, ‘Look, I’m gonna f— you up.’ I said [to Haney and Lopez], ‘Guys, you are fighting on DAZN, which is great. Teo, you are fighting George Kambosos and Devin, you are hopefully fighting JoJo Diaz. It’s the week after each other. Let’s make the fight.’
“And then everybody started up and arguing for about 20 minutes. I said, ‘Guys, can we just get one thing clear to Teo’s dad: We want the fight.’ He (Lopez Sr.) said, ‘No, we want the fight.’ I said, ‘Well then, let’s stop arguing, get through our fights and get it made.’ I know Devin will fight him and I do believe Teo will fight him. I think you will see that fight in spring of next year,” Hearn continued.
