Will Cris Cyborg Box On McGregor vs. Mayweather Undercard?

Without a high-profile card this weekend, much of the news in the MMA world has centered around the heavily hyped potential boxing match between UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and retired boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr.

It seemed to be taken to an all-new level this week when “Money” reportedly offered McGregor $50 million of just that to face him inside the squared circle, and “The Notorious” must have taken that as a sign, as he wildly proclaimed that Mayweather “needs him” instead of the opposite scenario.

The proposed super fight seems like a far-off scenario with McGregor under contract with the UFC, and indeed his next fight in the Octagon seems close to being booked after he met with the UFC brass this week, even if a similar meeting with his prospective opponent Nate Diaz, who infamously submitted McGregor at March’s UFC 196, didn’t go as well.

If it does somehow happen, however, there’s another high-profile MMA fighter that wants to try her hand at the sweet science on the card. That woman is Invicta FC featherweight titleholder Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino, who recently made her UFC debut by decimating Leslie Smith at May 14’s UFC 198 from Curitiba, Brazil.

She was recently liked to a potential fight with rising women’s bantamweight contender Germaine de Randamie at July’s UFC 201 this week, but Cyborg is apparently playing hardball, stating she would rather defend her Invicta title at 145 pounds for some odd reason. And there could be another reason for that, because now, she’s apparently got some other plans in mind.

Justino spoke up on Twitter this weekend to volunteer her services for a spot on the potentially massive McGregor vs. Mayweather event:

The brutalizing knockout artist has previously competed in Muay Thai, and although she did lose to champion Jorina Baars, she’s definitely one of the biggest names in all of female combat sports. With that said, she hasn’t exactly been tested in the cage or ring outside of the Baars fight, so it’s a quandary as to exactly whom she’d potentially face in a boxing match as part of the undercard for McGregor vs. Mayweather.

She’s got the potential to be a huge star in the UFC, but Cyborg appears focused on boxing, telling TMZ that she already has a coach that will “have me ready.””

Do you want to see her box on the potentially massive event, or do you believe the fight is so unlikely that speculating on the undercard is pointless?
