NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has revealed his plan to invest in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship after attending their KnuckleMania event in Lakeland, Florida on Friday.
OโNeal has shown himself to be a savvy businessman since ending his career in basketball. The NBA fan favourite has a diverse portfolio of investments that include the early backing of Google and Apple. He has always been a big combat sports fan. OโNeal even shared the ring with Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley in exhibition bouts as part of his โShaq Vs.โ TV show.
OโNeal will now enter the combat sports world as an investor. He has a particular interest in Bare Knuckle boxing which he told USA Today โis the future of fightingโ.
โThese are the greatest, toughest athletes in the world,โโ said OโNeal. โThe fact that theyโre not using gloves makes them the toughest athletes in the world. I think this is the future of fighting.โโ
David Feldman who owns Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship says a deal to bring OโNeal on board is virtually done.
โNow weโve got one of the most sought-after sports figures in the entire world,โโ Feldman said. โWho doesnโt know Shaq? And now heโs going to be part of this company and itโs going to make a lot for people want to be part of the company.โโ (Transcribed by Boxing Scene)
