Anthony Joshua Says Beating Oleksandr Usyk Is A ‘Tough Ask’ For Daniel DuboisΒ

Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua believes Daniel Dubois has a tall task in front of him if he’s going to beat Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night in Poland.

Dubois is looking to become the new Β IBF, IBO, WBA, and WBOΒ champion as he faces Usyk in a fight he is a sizeable underdog. Many expect Usyk to win the bout with ease, and Joshua who has faced Usyk twice, believes Dubois can win but knows it will be a tough ask.

“Of course [Dubois] has [a chance to win],” Joshua told Sky Sports News. “It’s a tough ask, of course. The thing with Usyk is. He doesn’t depend on his power to knock you out. He depends on his skill. That’s why it’s a tough ask. Because he’s going to box rings around you if you let him. Dubois, good luck, Don Charles [Dubois’ new trainer] good luck, Great British boxing good luck. We potentially might have the heavyweight championship back on our soil.”

If Daniel Dubois does defeat Oleksandr Usyk, it would be a massive upset and would likely lead to an immediate rematch.

However, Dubois and his team are confident that the Brit’s power will be too much for Usyk on Saturday night.

“If it’s documented that Usyk has never been dropped, we’re going to be the first to do it. [Dubois] will go down in history forever and he’s about to do that. We keep reminding him about that. Muhammad Ali shook the world when he beat Sonny Liston. He repeated it again against Forman, who was untouchable at the time. It’s about to happen again. We are up for it man. Usyk said he was hungry for this fight. We are starving,” Don Charles said to The Daily Mail.
