Bob Arum Believes WBO Will Order Vasiliy Lomachenko As Mandatory For George Kambosos Jr.

Lomachenko

We might just be getting a Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. George Kambosos Jr. fight.

Lomachenko takes on Richard Commey this Saturday at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Should the former lightweight champion get the win as expected, he may end up facing Kambosos Jr. next.

That’s according to Lomachenko’s promoter Bob Arum who believes the WBO will order the Ukrainian as the mandatory opponent (via Michael Benson).

Bob Arum has said they’ve been led to believe that the WBO are going to order Vasyl Lomachenko as mandatory for George Kambosos Jr. He added that they’d be happy to do it in Australia, if the pandemic allows it.”

Vasiliy Lomachenko Can Get Titles Back

Lomachenko lost his lightweight titles after getting outpointed by Teofimo Lopez in October last year.

He would later bounce back with an impressive TKO win over Masayoshi Nakatani in June and will now look to make it two wins in a row this weekend.

Lopez, meanwhile, would lose his titles to Kambosos Jr. after getting outpointed by him late last month.

With no rematch clause included, Kambosos is free to face other fighters. But if the WBO orders Lomachenko as Arum expects, Kambosos will have to deal with the former lightweight king next.

Who do you think wins between Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr.?
