Bob Arum Firm On Disinterest To Promote Future Terence Crawford Fights

Top Rank CEO and promoter Bob Arum stays firm on his comments regarding promoting Terence Crawford’s future fights.

After Crawford’s fourth-round TKO over Kell Brook earlier this month, Arum insulted Crawford’s ability to market himself outside of the ring.

“I could build a house in Beverly Hills on the money I’ve lost on him in the last three fights. A beautiful home,” Arum said.

“He’s got to promote like [Teofimo] Lopez does. He’s got to promote like Shakur [Stevenson] does. Like [Floyd] Mayweather did. Like [Manny] Pacquiao did.”

“He may be the greatest fighter in the world, but, hey, I ain’t going bankrupt promoting him.”

The three weight world champion responded to Arum’s criticism, demanding to be released from the Top Rank promotion.

“If Arum feels that way, then he can release me now,” Crawford said.

“You don’t have to wait for after a Spence fight. Release me now.”

When recently asked about his comments towards Crawford, he simply responded with “I don’t give a s**t.”

He backed up that statement by explaining that Crawford’s team released documents to the press, displaying details of Crawford’s contract with Top Rank.

“The lawyer sent a letter to us, OK, that’s fine, that’s what lawyers do. But you don’t release it to the press,” Arum said.

“All of this should have been behind closed doors, like what men do. I’m not going to take this s**t.”

Since Crawford’s last fight, there has been a lot of talk regarding a potential fight between and Errol Spence Jr.

If Spence manages to have his hand raised against Danny Garcia on December 5th, we could see two undefeated champions go head to head.

Should Arum continue to promote Crawford, he claims this fight is very attractive, however financial expectations of fighters and current COVID-19 fan restrictions may stop it from happening.

Crawford’s future with Top Rank remains uncertain at this point, with back and fourths continuing between the two.

Do you think we’ll see Bob Arum & Top Rank continue to promote Terence Crawford’s future fights?
