Eddie Hearn Believes Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz Is A Mismatch
Eddie Hearn thinks Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz isn’t a close fight.
Paul is coming off his first career loss and is set to take on the fan-favorite, Diaz on August 5 in Dallas, Texas. It’s an intriguing matchup and the fight recently got moved to 10 rounds but even though the fight is now 10 rounds, Hearn doesn’t think it will even go that long.
โI watched clips of Nate Diaz hit pads, I think I mightโve even told you, and I was like [staring blankly, open-mouthed],โ Hearn toldย The MMA Hourย host Ariel Helwani. โYou know that itโs going to be a mismatch against Jake Paul, donโt you?โ I know you love Nate Diaz, and I love him. Listen, Iโve only met him a couple of times โ what a gent. But for it to be a mismatch against Jake Paul? Yes [heโs getting smoked].โ
Eddie Hearn says once he saw Nate Diaz hit pads he knew he couldn’t box. With that, he doesn’t think the fight won’t last long and Paul will knock him out in four rounds or less.
โYou can see people hit pads and you know whether they can [box],โ Hearn said. “From what I saw, maybe you [Helwani] against Nate is a 50-50. But we can have a friendly bet on that fight, and Iโll give you odds. I donโt know what the actual line is, because you guys do things a little bit different over here, but Iโll give you 3-to-1 on Nate Diaz if you want it. Honestly [Iโm that confident]. And weโre talking about Jake Paul. Weโre not talking about [Tyson] Fury or AJ [Anthony Joshua] fighting an MMA fighter. Weโre talking about Jake Paul. It wonโt go four [rounds]. I mean, listen, unless itโs all a bit of a bluff by Nate, what I saw. Maybe.โ
