Frank Warren Knows Anthony Joshua vs. Deontay Wilder Is A Massive Fight, But Both Have To Do Their Job On Dec. 23

Frank Warren knows Anthony Joshua vs. Deontay Wilder is one of the biggest fights in boxing.

Joshua and Wilder are both set to return to the ring on Dec. 23, but it won’t be against one another. Instead, Joshua will face Otto Wallin while Wilder will take on Joseph Parker. Both are highly-anticipated matchups, but many are disappointed the two aren’t fighting one another.

However, ahead of their fights in Saudi Arabia on Dec. 23, the two have agreed to fight one another on March 9, but Warren says that adds to the stakes of their fights this weekend.

“The joint-main events have a lot of significance as far as boxing’s concerned in as much that Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are involved in quite tasty and tough fights and should they come through then they’re going to be in a position where I believe they’re going to be facing off next year,” Warren said to Sky Sports.

“That’s a massive, massive fight. A fight that a lot of people, certainly the fans talk about a lot. But to get there they’ve got to get through Saturday night in Riyadh. Get it out of the way on Saturday and all will be revealed but there’s a will to make this happen and I’m quite sure everybody’s going to be happy with the outcome provided these guys deliver. The most important thing for them, they’ve got to deliver,” Warren continued.

Part of the reason why Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder agreed to fight one another is that Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to fight in February and a rematch clause is set. With that, Joshua would be waiting for a long time.

“He’d have a long wait for Tyson,” Warren said. “Tyson’s got his fight and his program’s set out for next year and at this moment in time doesn’t include Joshua. Joshua, he had two opportunities to fight him [Fury], one last December and this year. Those fights didn’t happen for whatever reason and the situation is now that we are in a position where a number of big fights will be announced. It all depends what happens on Saturday.”

Do you think both Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua will both win this weekend?
