Jose Zepeda Believes Regis Prograis Bout Is A Canβt-Miss ‘Fight Of The Year’
Jose Zepeda is excited about his fight against Regis Prograis.
Zepeda and Prograis are set to meet on Saturday night in California for the vacant WBC light welterweight title. It’s an intriguing matchup and Zepeda plans to stand and bang with Prograis.
βWe will have to wait for that, I guess,β Zepeda told BoxingScene.com. βWhen I fought Baranchyk, I thought I was gonna out-box him. And then I needed to get into a brawl, a war. So, it all depends on how he comes out. My plan is always to box. Obviously, we donβt wanna get into wars, but if thatβs what I feel helps me more, I can do it.β
Zepeda is riding a five-fight win streak and is coming off a TKO win over Josue Vargas but three figths ago, he defeated Ivan Baranchyk. He believes that fight showed his power so is confident he can stand and bang with Prograis but is expecting this to be a Fight of the Night.
βMaybe my power is underestimated, but I can hit, too,β Zepeda said. βAnd both of us, with a lot of knockouts, this fight can be βFight of the Year.β I keep saying it, that this is the fight. This is gonna be a great fight, regardless…
βOn social media, I keep seeing hardcore boxing fans saying that this is the fight,β Zepeda later added. βWe see other fights where thereβs a lot of trash talk, and then when it comes time to get in the ring and fight it doesnβt really end up that way. But me and Prograis, we donβt really talk a lot. We donβt do a lot of trash talking. But inside the ring, everybody thinks that this is gonna be the fight, like a canβt-miss βFight of the Year.β”
