Jose Zepeda vs. Kendo Castaneda: Full Results

Top Rank Boxing returns tonight with Jose Zepeda (31-2, 25 KO) and Kendo Castaneda (17-1, 8KO) squaring off in a ten-round super lightweight contest, in the evening’s headline act. The card will start at 8 pm (ET).

Zepeda comes into this bout on the back of an impressive unanimous decision victory over former two-division world champion Jose Pedraza (27-3, 13 KO) on the undercard of Tyson Fury-Otto Wallin. Zepeda is looking to work his back into title contention after he unsuccessfully challenged Jose Ramirez for the WBC super lightweight title in February of 2019, losing via majority decision.

It was close-fought-bout, which showed that Zepeda is a force to be reckoned with in the division. He should have no real issues tonight against Castaneda, who took this fight following Zepeda’s original opponent, Ivan Baranchyk, withdrawing due to injury. The 26-year-old Texan will see this fight against one of the divisions best as a career-enhancing opportunity. However, the step-up in class is likely too much for him.

In the co-main event, Andy Vences (23-1-1, 12 KO) faces off against Luis Alberto Lopez (20-2, 11 KO) in a ten-round super featherweight bout. This fight should be a more evenly matched encounter. Vences is ranked No 25 in Boxrec, while Lopez is 24.
