Khabib Nurmagomedov Backing Oleksandr Usyk Against Dereck Chisora

Top heavyweights Oleksandr Usyk and Dereck Chisora face off in a title-implicating battle this Halloween, Saturday, October 31. This is a high level bout between a pair of heavyweight champions, and the outcome of this fight could very well impact the heavyweight title picture in 2021.

Usyk is perfect as a professional, going 17-0 thus far into his career with 13 victories coming via knockout. Chisora has had a bit rockier, but twice as long of a career, going 32-9 with 23 knockouts.

Two of those nine defeats come to Dillian Whyte, and two come to Tyson Fury, with three of them being split decisions.

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib ‘The Eagle’ Nurmagomedov had the following to say on this match up, and who he believes to be boxings top pound-for-pound talents:

“Right now, I think three guys. Oleksandr Usyk, Vasiliy Lomachenko and Canelo Alvarez. Oh sorry, Tyson Fury too. Four guys. It’s very hard (to decide) who is the best.

“I really want to see Usyk vs Fury. It’s going to be a very good fight. He [Usyk] has very good skill and technique, Tyson Fury too.

“[Usyk] is not like other heavyweights, more technique, his footwork is very good, his conditioning is very good, I really want to watch Usyk against Fury.”

Nurmagomedov continues on about Chisora, and how he’s rejuvenated himself after a bad night leading up to his Agit Kabayel fight:

“A lot of good came out of that fight, in the end. Maybe that’s why Dereck is where he’s at today. There was a silver lining.

“I know Derek has stopped drinking because, at a couple of the clubs he goes to, I’m told that he just has an orange juice, says hello, then goes home.”

Usyk looks to keep his undefeated streak going, while Chisora looks to continue performing like his new-found-self and make it four-straight.
