Skye Nicolson Sends A Message To Amanda Serrano After Win

Skye Nicolson has sent a message to Amanda Serrano following her win over Sarah Mahfoud in Las Vegas over the weekend.

Nicolson won the vacant WBC female featherweight title on Saturday with a dominant decision win over Mahfoud. It was a great performance from Nicolson as one judge gave her every single round, which she agreed with.

“I would have called it a complete shoutout, but I will watch it back and find out which round one of the three judges thought I lost,” Nicolson told Matchroom Boxing (via BoxingScene). “I am not going to dwell on that too long. I am a bit of a perfectionist, but I thought it was a pretty punch-perfect performance for me. I didn’t really get into second gear, and I felt I made the fight very easy for myself. However, if I am honest, I did feel a little bit lazy if you compared what I have been doing in the gym…

“I think my timing and distance. Distance control and offsetting my opponent are probably my biggest strengths, and I think she [Mahfoud] really struggled with that,” Nicolson added. “I saw everything that she was throwing, and I found it quite easy to make her miss, but she was also quite awkward and hard to hit. She was good at breaking up my attacks and played a reason why I didn’t come forward as much as I should have, but I will make sure I won’t make those mistakes again next time.”

With the win, Skye Nicolson is hoping to secure a fight with Amanda Serrano for the undisputed championship. However, Nicolson isn’t sure if Serrano is interested in the fight.

“It’s nothing personal. If you don’t want to fight me, can we talk about what we are doing with the belts? I want the belts. I don’t have to fight you if you don’t want me to, but if you want to fight, I’ll be ready when you are,” said Nicolson.
