Teddy Atlas Explains Why He Believes Jake Paul To Defeat Tommy Fury
Teddy Atlas believes Jake Paul will defeat Tommy Fury in two weeks’ time.
Paul and Fury are finally set to fight on February 26 in Saudi Arabia in a bout that has been booked twice prior, with the Brit pulling out both times. However, Fury has vowed the fight will happen on February 26, and if it does, Atlas believes Paul will get his hand raised for a few reasons.
โTommy Fury, [Paul] picked him for a reason,โ Atlas said on his podcast (via BoxingScene). โFury, heโs a guy whoโs obviously been fighting longer, he comes from the Fury family, heโs obviously had more experience, heโs been around boxing most of his life. He knows how to look like a fighter, [but] I donโt know if he knows how to fight like a fighter. Jake Paul is learning how to behave like a fighter. I donโt know that Tommy completely knows that yet. Iโm gonna put it in context. Fury is 8-0. The combined records of all of his eight opponents. 24 wins, 176 losses, and five draws. [Paul] said, โYouโve fought nothing but taxi drivers!โ I would add something to that, theyโre very bad taxi drivers. They donโt even have a license.
โ[Fury] reminds me of a guy you would hire for TV [or] movie to look like a fighter. Heโs not a puncher. Heโs not physicalโฆ Heโs not that guy. Jake Paul is physically strong. Furyโs not physically strong. I think thatโs why he picked him. Heโs not stupid. I think he thinks he can use his physicality, and I think he thinks heโs mentally tougher. And he might be right,” Atlas continued. “Right now, with the little bit I have to work on. I would say maybe [Paul] is, that heโs more determined [and] a little tougher mentally. So, Iโm gonna go with what Iโve seen and what Iโve known. So, I donโt care what people think. Iโm gonna pick Jake Paul.โ
Jake Paul is coming off the biggest win of his career as he beat Anderson Silva by decision. Prior to that, he beat Tyron Woodley in back-to-back fights with the second win coming by KO. Tommy Fury, meanwhile, is a perfect 8-0 in his boxing career with his last pro fight happening in April of 2022 but he did have an exhibition match against Rolly Lambert in November.
Who do you think will win, Jake Paul or Tommy Fury?
