Tyson Fury remains big betting favorite to beat Anthony Joshua despite overnight retirement

Former undisputed WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury remains a distinct betting favorite to defeat fellow former world heavyweight titleholder, Anthony Joshua in a future fight — despite his fifth overall retirement from the sport overnight.
Fury, a former two-time WBC heavyweight gold holder, made his return to the ring last month in a title rematch against Ukrainian fan-favorite and former undisputed world champion, Oleksandr Usyk.
And dropping his second career loss to his arch-rival, Usyk, Morecambe native, Fury was handed a second consecutive decision loss on the judge’s scorecards — another defeat he debated heavily.
Tyson Fury remains favorite to beat Anthony Joshua despite retirement
Despite his retirement overnight, Tyson Fury still remains a -400 betting favorite to beat the inactive, Anthony Joshua — who is boasting +300 betting underdog odds with a host of the best Bitcoin sports betting sites currently.
Still possessing some of the best ring IQ despite his pair of decision losses to arch enemy, Usyk, British veteran, Fury controversially confirmed his retirement from professional boxing overnight a short video posted on his official social media — marking the fifth time since 2013 the former world heavyweight champion called time on his combat sports tenure.
“Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet,” Tyson Fury said whilst sitting in his car. “I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing,” Fury said. “It’s been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it and I’m going to end with this: Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side.”
Still having gone on to achieve global acclaim through his gold laden run in professional boxing — which included massive wins over Deontay Wilder, Derek Chisora, Dillian Whyte, and in his first title run — Wladimir Klitschko — Tyson Fury has also been backed to have achieved a stronger negotiating position at the table should a fight with Watford rival, Joshua present itself in the coming weeks.
Himself sidelined since his most recent loss, Joshua most recently took on current IBF heavyweight gold holder, Daniel Dubois back in September at a massive event in Wembley Stadium.
And despite starting well and showing some brass against the Londoner, Joshua was dropped on cue throughout the early goings — before walking onto a massive counter striker in the opening minute of the fifth round — suffering a brutal KO defeat, the second of his professional boxing career.
Prior to that loss, Joshua — who himself has dropped a pair of decision losses to common-foe, Usyk, turned in a quartet of impressive wins over Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin, and former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou.
Reportedly in talks with Saudi adviser Turki Alalshikh in recent weeks to land himself a massive all-British heavyweight clash against fellow former champion, Joshua — which has been mooted as potentially his final outing, Fury’s retirement overnight has also been judged by many critics — and promoters to boot, as a negotiating ploy in order to land himself a better contract for the pairing.
Linked with a pairing as soon as the summer at Wembley Stadium, it remains to be seen if Tyson Fury’s most recent retirement will actually ring through this time — or it is all a ploy in order to position himself into a grudge fight with Watford bruiser, Joshua.
