Keyshawn Davis vs Edwin De Los Santos – Betting Preview

When you’ve got two young guns going out there with the intention of putting on a real show, you know you’re going to be in for a boxing treat. When Keyshawn Davis and Edwin De Los Santos collide, that’s exactly the kind of vibe we expect to see – and although there’s a clear favourite in Davis, people shouldn’t count De Los Santos out just because he could’ve overcome Shakur Stevenson.
Davis is heading back to Norfolk for this one and with a passionate fanbase of his own people behind him, the expectations will be high. He’s starting to find his rhythm both personality-wise and with what he can do inside the squared circle, and make no mistake about it, this is being set up as a ‘showcase’ fight for him to eventually move on to bigger and better things.
Alas, therein lies the danger. Edwin De Los Santos is a perfect example of what can happen when you look past someone as a result of something that’s happened in the past. For a recent example of when that went south, go and take a look at Rolly Romero’s most recent win over Ryan Garcia.
This isn’t an exact carbon copy of that situation, but we do see a lot of similarities, and it makes us even more intrigued to see this one. The way that De Los Santos is being spoken about, you’d think that he’s already over the hill, when we all know what he can do when he doesn’t allow the pressure to get too much.
So whether you’re looking for a list of UK bookmakers from FIRST.com or you just want to know a little bit more about the fight, we’re here to break down what we think is going to happen.
As the reigning WBO lightweight champion, Davis will be the one who has pressure on his shoulders here – especially when you factor in that this is a homecoming fight. We do think that he has the more well-rounded boxing style when you really take a look at his ability to control the distance, but every now and then, he can throw caution to the wind in the name of getting a spectacular finish.
Of course, with 14 of De La Santos’ 16 wins coming by way of knockout, he may not be the kind of guy you want to take a chance with. In that regard, he has the edge, but we do expect this to come down to mental fortitude down the stretch.
Davis is as locked in as he’s perhaps ever been, and it feels like this is the kind of breakout moment he’s been looking for. There’s no way of knowing for sure without testing yourself against someone who really doesn’t have anything to lose, and De Los Santos is precisely that opponent, given what we’ve seen against him from elite competition thus far.
We’re going to say that Keyshawn will be able to edge this one out, avoiding some early scares before eventually taking over in the later rounds.
Official prediction: Keyshawn Davis via unanimous decision
