2015 Michigan State Preview

The past few years have been nothing short of phenomenal for the Spartans. finishing with 11 wins or more in four of the last five seasons, they seek to continue one of the most impressive runs in the school’s history.

Last year Michigan State suffered defeat twice to Oregon and Ohio State, the two teams that found themselves in the national championship. This shows how much potential the Spartans have, that they can be national title good, but first, they will have to best the Big Ten East.

Being a team capable of handling more physical teams, as well as showcasing the talent to keep up with anyone. The Spartans have been on a brilliant run of bowl wins beating Georgia, TCU, Stanford and Baylor, however none of these as big as their play in the Big Ten that has taken them to another level.

In offence we will see the return of Connor Cook, a franchise quarterback to make everyone better. The receivers are terrific and there is plenty of good running backs to work behind the line. Although they are known for their defence the Spartans can definitely hold their own when it comes to offence.

In the defence, coordinator Pat Narduzzi may be off to Pitt as the head man, but it’ll remain the Michigan State defence we all know. The line will be phenomenal, the linebackers are prototype, and the secondary is loaded even after losing a few NFL prospects.

Michigan’s other schools are fading in the background to this machine Dantonio has forged in Michigan State.

What you need to know about the offence:

  • Quarterback Connor Cook returns despite being a first-round draft pick this year.
  • The receiving corps is likely to undergo an overhaul, DeAnthony Arnett will join several veterans and safety-valve TE Josiah Price.
  • After losing Jeremy Langford there will be a rotation at running back.

What you need to know about the defence:

  • Star coordinator Pat Narduzzi has left however things will stay the same under Harlon Barnett and Mike Tressel.
  • The line is stacked with Malik McDowell inside and Shilique Calhoun back at one end.

The Spartans will be successful this season if they are able to make it to the playoff. They have shown in their last few seasons that they have the ability too and it is time for them to step up and achieve it.
