Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford: former Canelo opponent Liam Smith predicts superfight
Liam Smith has given his thoughts on the upcoming superfight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
As we know, Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are set to collide later this year in an absolutely blockbuster fight between two of boxing’s finest. While Crawford is widely considered to be the more talented boxer out of the two in terms of actual ability, Canelo is the bigger man, which is seen by the majority of pundits as the deciding factor in this one.
As it turns out, one of Canelo Alvarez’s former opponents, Liam Smith, has also suggested that the size difference between the two will decide the winner.
Liam Smith predicts Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford
“A good fight but I think Canelo is just too big, too solid. He’s shorter than me, it’s crazy, but he’s solid. We saw it when he fought Charlo, he’ll stalk him and just be too big. A lot of people are not looking at Madrimov. We saw Crawford struggle at 154. Madrimov is a poor man’s Canelo if that makes sense.
“Crawford could look good in rounds, especially early, but I just think Canelo will stalk him and the pressure, he’s just too solid and too big. It’s at 168. If they gave Crawford a fight at 147 next he can make it. Anybody fighting at 147 shouldn’t be anywhere near 168.”

For Canelo, it’s all about using his power to really impose himself on Crawford. Whether or not he’s capable of doing that over the course of 12 rounds is another conversation altogether, but in equal measure, there’s every chance that he could get him out of there.
Whatever happens, the hope from most fans is that we just get to see an entertaining battle that highlights the best that both men have to offer.
