Bob Arum Reveals Five Possible Opponents For Heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury

Tyson Fury

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder were supposed to have their trilogy fight, but that won’t happen after all.

The fight failed to materialize partly due to the pandemic. So, Fury and his promoter, Bob Arum are looking at their options. Many fans were looking forward to the trilogy bout given how close and entertaining the first fight was. The rematch, however, was not competitive. Perhaps that was Wilder on an off night, but we won’t get to find out for at least some time.

Arum spoke to IFL TV, where he said there aren’t many options for Fury. He did have five names in mind.

“We end up with five guys who are possible. There’s Efe [Ajagba], the African is there,” Arum said (via Essentially Sports). There’s Agit [Kabayel], [Oscar] Rivas is there, and there are two others that are there. We’ll have to pick out, see who’s available and pick it out. I mean, Rivas and Efe are Top rank fighters, and I’m sure we could arrange for them to be available.”

Although these are no blockbuster names like Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder, the Joshua fight is rumored to take place in 2021. So, Fury will no doubt need to get back in action and get some of the ring rust off before he fights Joshua in what will be one of the most anticipated boxing fights in quite some time.

Out of those names, there is no question Fury would be a massive favorite and many would think it would be an easy fight for him. Yet, it is a combat sport and as we saw with Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua, anything can happen so Fury can’t be overlooking them. However, on the outside looking in, it appears this is a tune-up fight to prepare for Joshua in 2021.
