Caleb Plant Believes David Benavidez’s Opponents Have Been One Dimensional

Caleb Plant

Caleb Plant doesn’t think David Benavidez has fought anyone like him.

Plant and Benavidez are set to fight on March 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Showtime pay-per-view in a massive bout that is years in the making. The two have taken shots at one another for quite some time and Plant thinks this will be Benavidez’s first big fight which will hinder his foe.

“This is [Benavidez’s] first big fight. This ain’t my first big fight. I’ve been here before. I’ve been on the big stage more than once,” Plant said in an interview with BoxingScene.com and other reporters. “Mentally I am relaxed, calm, and focused. I just want to get the job done. I don’t let outside voices dictate how motivated or disciplined I am. I’m going to be just as focused, training hard and locked in.”

Caleb Plant is coming off a KO win over Anthony Dirrell after losing his first fight to Canelo Alvarez in a massive fight. With experience of fighting top opponents, Plant says that will be a difference as he doesn’t think Benavidez has fought anyone of note.

“A lot of the people that [Benavidez has] fought have been one dimensional. IQ has been decent, but not even the same universe as what I am able to do on fight night,” said Plant. “I can do a lot of things.”

Plant is 22-1 and is the former IBF super middleweight champion. In his career, he holds notable wins over Caleb Truax, Mike Lee, Jose Uzcategui, and Vincent Feigenbutz among others.

David Benavidez (26-0) is coming off a TKO win over David Lemieux to win the interim WBC super middleweight title. He also holds notable wins over Dirrell, J’Leon Love, and Ronald Gavril among others.
