Devin Haney Says Him And Shakur Stevenson Are On A Collision Course, Will Fight Soon
Devin Haney is confident he and Shakur Stevenson will share the ring soon.
On Saturday night, Haney defended his lightweight titles with a controversial decision win over Vasyl Lomachenko. After the win, Stevenson entered the ring and called out Haney which Haney and his dad Bill said hasn’t been discussed
โBob ainโt said [Stevensonโs] name,โ Bill Haney said in reference to promoter Bob Arum (h/t BoxingScene). โBob ainโt said his name. My phone ainโt ringing.โ
โYeah, Bob hasnโt said his name at all,โ Devin Haney said. โBut nah, listen, of course, Iโve been very vocal about that me and Shakur are on a collision course. Whether itโs at 135, whether itโs at 140, whether itโs at 147, we definitely on a collision course. And we definitely gonna get it on when the time is right.โ
Although Shakur Stevenson wants Devin Haney next time out, it’s uncertain that will happen.
According to Haney, he says a potential move to 140lbs still could be next so he’s uncertain what his next fight will be.
โYou know, if I canโt get those fights next or it doesnโt make sense for it to be next, Iโll probably go to 140, test it out, see how I feel at the weight, at 140,โ Haney said during his press conference Saturday night. โAnd then, when the time is right, then Iโll defend my belts at 135. Weโll just see, though. Iโve gotta go back and talk with the team and see what makes the most sense. Thatโs really all it boils down to.โ
Stevenson also was adamant that Lomachenko won, despite predicting Haney would win and saying he wanted that fight.
Who do you think will win, Devin Haney or Shakur Stevenson?
