Eddie Hearn calls out Dana White over fighter pay

Eddie Hearn

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has called out Dana White over the fighter pay issue in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

As we know, Eddie Hearn has never been afraid to speak his mind. Throughout the course of his career, he has refused to hold back – and more often than not, that tends to land him in hot water, particularly with other promoters. Alas, he doesn’t seem to care all too much.

Once upon a time, it seemed like Eddie Hearn had a pretty good relationship with UFC boss Dana White. However, ever since Dana has made his way over into the boxing world, it feels like things have soured ever so slightly.

In a recent press conference, Eddie Hearn had the following to say about White and any potential changes to the Muhammad Ali Act, which is what Dana has reportedly been contemplating.

Eddie Hearn calls out Dana White

“We’re not interested. Weโ€™re real boxing,” Hearn said when asked if when he was going to work with White. “I’m serious. We don’t want to change the ring. We don’t want to change the Muhammad Ali Act. This is how we work. We’re an open book with boots and everyone, and the team. I don’t want to hide the revenue from the show. These guys get to see it.”

“In boxing, the majority of the revenue from the show goes to the fighters,” Hearn said. “In MMA, the majority of the revenue goes to the promoter. Good luck to them. That’s not how we work in boxing. I’m not interested in (another) fight belt. I’m not interested in changing the Muhammad Ali Act. I’m not interested in changing the shape of the ring or the rules.

“What I’m interested in is the greatness of the sport of boxing.”
