Floyd Mayweather Says Devin Haney Should Box Shakur Stevenson Next

Floyd Mayweather hopes Shakur Stevenson moves up and fights Devin Haney next time out, instead of Haney waiting for Gervonta Davis.

After Haney defeated George Kambosos Jr., many thought the Davis fight might be next but it appears Kambosos Jr. will want a rematch. However, for Mayweather, he says he wants to see Haney vs. Stevenson.

“Shakur Stevenson is a hell of a fighter, and Devin Haney is a hell of a fighter,” Mayweather told FightHype.com. “If Top Rank has Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson, then they need to fight each other. Don’t worry about Tank.

“Everybody is saying that Tank is not this and not that. Tank don’t have this belt, he don’t have that belt. If that’s true, then guess what? Don’t worry about Tank. Let Tank keep doing what he’s been doing. Tank don’t have to worry about nothing,” Mayweather continued. “As long as Tank is with Floyd and [Premier Boxing Champions head] Al [Haymon], Tank is always going to live good. He’s going to be okay. If Tank were the undisputed champions, the night that he won them, I’d tell him, ‘you give three of them back.’ So why should you be paying a sanctioning fee on four belts? If Top Rank has the top fighters, then make the big fights. I do know one thing. Gervonta Tank Davis is getting paid like a mother f——- One thing about Gervonta Tank  Davis, he’s with Floyd Mayweather, and he’s getting paid.”

After hearing about Floyd Mayweather’s idea, Devin Haney says he would be open to it. Although he and Shakur Stevenson are friends, he knows it would be a huge fight when the time comes to make it happen.

“Of course, that’s a huge fight to be made one day,” Haney told FightHype.com. “We all know this is a business. [Stevenson and I are] real good friends, and we talk often. But when the time comes, the time comes. It’s going to make sense for me and for him, and we’re going to make a huge fight for the fans when it happens.”
