Joshua Greer Jr vs Mike Plania: Full results

Top Rank Boxing heads into the second week of its summer series today with a card headlined by an intriguing bantamweight matchup between Joshua Greer Jr (22-1-1, 12 KO) and Mike Plania (23-1, 12 KO). The five-fight card will begin at 8pm (EST) and will take place inside the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Greer comes into this bout on an 18 fight winning streak, which has earned him the No. 1 spot in the WBO bantamweight rankings. The Chicago native is known for his hand speed and will walk into tonight’s clash as the favorite.

However, Plania is no pushover and will be seeing this fight as his chance to make a name for himself in the bantamweight division. The 23-year-old’s most notable outing took place in 2018 against former WBA super bantamweight champion Juan Carlos Payano. Plania lost that bout via decision but showed flashes of talent despite the loss. Two years and eight straight wins later, Plania now has a second chance at making a name for himself.

Tonight’s opening bout is also one worth keeping an eye on. It sees undefeated welterweight Giovani Santillan (25-0, 15 KO) stepping up against veteran fighter Antonio DeMarco (33-8-1, 24 KO). The 28-year-old Santillan has not faced anyone with the pedigree of DeMarco, who in 2011 defeated Jorge Linares to claim the vacant WBC lightweight title.

Demarco has also shared the ring with the likes of Adrian Broner and Jessie Vargas — though he did lose to both if Santillan wants to establish himself as a fighter-to-watch, he will need to get past a still dangerous Demarco.
