Oleksandr Usyk plans to be the one bringing the pressure against Daniel Dubois

Oleksandr Usyk, Daniel Dubois

Heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk plans to be the one bringing the pressure when he faces off against Daniel Dubois in their highly anticipated rematch next week.

For the longest time, there’s been a great deal of excitement in the air when it comes to the heavyweight rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois. The two men fought once before and while it was slightly controversial after Dubois’ ‘belt’ shot, it was Usyk who managed to get over the finish line and pick up the win.

Now, they’ll run it back at Wembley Stadium, and Oleksandr Usyk is once again the favorite. That’s hardly surprising given what he’s already been able to achieve in the sport, but after Dubois was able to dominate and knock out Anthony Joshua, a few eyebrows have been raised regarding his ability to do the same thing to Usyk.

In a brief statement, Oleksandr Usyk made it clear that despite the power of Daniel Dubois, he’s the one who wants to be leading the dance in London.

“Pressure doesn’t exist when you’re the one creating it.”

Everyone knows what Oleksandr Usyk is capable of doing at the elite level, and the firm belief is that he can do that to just about anyone. Of course, Dubois will be coming into this as the younger man, and you could even argue the hungrier.

Heavyweight boxing is in need of a blockbuster fight and although we’ve had many of those over the course of the last few years, this feels like it has the potential to be a passing of the torch moment – but a lot of that comes down to how Usyk plans on approaching the contest.

Buckle up, fight fans, because this is going to be interesting.
