Oleksandr Usyk ordered to defend WBO title against interim holder Joseph Parker in big showdown

Oleksandr Usyk has reportedly been ordered to defend his WBO heavyweight championship against interim Joseph Parker.
For the longest time now, Oleksandr Usyk has been seen as one of the best boxers on the planet. After defeating Tyson Fury twice, alongside two wins over Anthony Joshua and a triumph against Daniel Dubois, it’s pretty much undisputed that he’s the best heavyweight of this generation – and perhaps one of the best of all time.
One man who also believes he’s the best of the best, though, is Joseph Parker. He’s put together an incredible win streak as of late, to the point where he’s been garnering the attention of the likes of Oleksandr Usyk.
Now, it appears to be time for the pair to square off in the middle of the ring.
Oleksandr Usyk vs Joseph Parker
“The WBO has officially ordered heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk to defend his title against its ‘interim’ belt holder Joseph Parker. The parties have 30 days to reach a deal before the bout goes to a purse bid.”
This has all the potential in the world to be one of the most exciting fights of the year. Oleksandr Usyk is an absolute machine but as he enters what could be the final big run of his career, he’ll have to be wary of complacency. He’ll also have to be wary of going up against a very hungry challenger, which is exactly what Joseph Parker is.
Nothing has ever come easy for Parker. He’s always done things the hard way and he’s had to fight back from some notable setbacks. Alas, it feels like that’s prepared him perfectly for a challenge of this magnitude.
He wants to go out there and prove himself, and there’s absolutely no better way to do it than by taking on Oleksandr Usyk.
