Video | Preview Clip From Macho: The Hector Camacho Story Released

Showtime Sports Documentary Films’ Macho: The Hector Camacho Story, premiers this Friday (December 4) on SHOWTIME. The film is released eight years after Camacho’s fatal shooting in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Two-time Emmy Award winner Eric Drath directs the film (Assault in the Ring and No Más, 30 for 30), which covers the life of one of boxing’s most fascinating characters.

Camacho captured multiple world titles and faced off against the likes of Roberto Durán, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Oscar De La Hoya. The Puerto Rican boxer had no shortage of ability inside the ring but battled personal issues outside of it.

In the lead-up to Friday’s release, SHOWTIME has uploaded a film clip for fans to view. In the below clip, sportscaster Tim Ryan discusses the wild events that lead up to Camacho’s 1983 fight against John Montes in Anchorage, Alaska.

“We were grateful for the fact that he recovered and the fight went on, but it was a source of great concern to us from that point forward because we knew he was dealing with the demons,” Ryan says.

Check it out below.

The film is officially released on Friday, December 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME.
