Canelo Alvarez Picking Anthony Joshua In Potential Title Fight With Tyson Fury

Canelo

Pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez is tipping Anthony Joshua to emerge victorious in a potential fight with Tyson Fury.

Joshua is coming off a ninth-round knockout win over Kubrat Pulev earlier this month and is now on course to face Fury in a title unification bout in 2021.

The fight has even been verbally agreed with Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn revealing there are a few hurdles to get by while Joshua recently promised fans it would happen.

As for who comes out on top? Many observers are picking the undefeated Fury thanks to his boxing IQ and overall skill with oddsmakers installing him as a betting favorite.

However, Alvarez is picking “AJ” to come out on top as he explained why.

“AJ wins by late stoppage,” Alvarez was quoted as saying to Sky Sports (via The Sun). “AJ has that raw power which will make Fury think about boxing him more than beating him up.

“As Joshua gets his second wind in the later rounds, that’s when he’ll land a shot on Fury and knock him out.”

It’s certainly an interesting prediction but then again, Fury fought Deontay Wilder twice who is arguably the hardest-hitting boxer in heavyweight history.

The Briton managed to outbox Wilder for the majority of their first meeting that ended as a draw though he did end up getting dropped twice. However, Fury turned it on in the rematch by dropping Wilder twice en route to a seventh-round TKO victory to win the WBC heavyweight title.

Things will certainly be interesting if Fury is able to emulate that same kind of performance against Joshua.
