Terence Crawford bided his time until finally hitting back at Jermell Charlo.
Leading up to his split decision draw with Brian Castano, Charlo took a dig at Crawford by stating that he was not deserving of being so high on the pound-for-pound lists.
“Y’all have Terence Crawford really high – did y’all look at his opponents and who he fought?” Charlo told an ESPN writer.
Of course, Charlo wanted to be on the list and might have done it if he defeated Castano for his WBO light middleweight title and unified the division.
That’s not what panned out and Crawford decided to fire back soon after.
First, the WBO welterweight champion put out a story on Instagram revealing who he thought had won the contest.
“Charlo lost and I’m done talking about it.”
He would then take to Twitter.
“I been gone for a min but @TwinCharlo last night is the reason you not on the P4P list sir. Gotta do better.”
It will be interesting to see if Charlo offers a response.
